Flat tax

I think that taxes should be paid equal. I think this because that way there would not be as much of an argue between some people. There might still be a big issue for the poor having to pay the same as the rich because they might think that they rich should have to pay more but I think that it would be fine if it would be equal pay. “Supporters of a flat tax believe that the only fair income tax would apply an equal percentage to all taxpayers.”Advocates say that, with a flat tax, most people could figure their annual taxes on a simple postcard.” This Fair Tax would abolish federal income and corporate taxed. This would institute a national sales tax. It would have enough to cover all of the government programs. In this article the plans both have things that are in common. With flat tax, people that will be expecting a tax advantage will not be getting it. According to debate.org 67% of people say yes to equal tax. This is because having equal tax percentage would make someone that is making more still having to pay the same percentage as someone that is not making the same amount of money as them. If having to pay the same for the rich they would like it but the some of the poor would probably not like it as well as the rich.I think that if someone who does not make as much money as another person they should have all pay the same percentage. Because even if the person is poor they can still find a way to pay for it, they could get help from someone. If the rich had to pay more they would be just as mad as the poor for not having to pay less if they had the chance to pay less than the rich.

I think that the holocaust was worse, because there were more people that died. They had to go through many things. The rape of the Nanking killed many people but so did the holocaust. But to me I think the holocaust was worse. Because they were starved, had illnesses, brutal labor, and other things that were not good for them. When children were born at the camps they would be killed right away the parents didn’t get the choice if they would be killed or not. I think that the Nanking was bad too; the women that were pregnant had it bad too. They were raped and then would have their bellies slit open and then the baby would be torn out. The Jewish people were put in gas champers. The children were killed upon the arrival.  I don’t think it was right to kill children or anyone it wasn’t fair for them to just decide they wanted to kill certain people. Neither of them should have had the right to go and decide to do that just because they didn’t like certain people.

I think the Japanese were able to continue their lives after the war because they can always go to the museum and see what all happened. The Americans helped with getting them valuable research. This was because they would act fast so that the Soviets would keep their hands off of them. Japan has been able to deny what happened. I think that the Germans did a worse job because they left people to die without any food or water. I also think that the Germans did more than the Japanese because of how they handled things.

Nixon

Nixon as a person I think that he was a good person until the Watergate scandal happened. I think that Nixon should not be remembering as someone that did something bad for our country. Because he did help do something right. But he did not have a reason to do the Watergate scandal. He made some choice that he probably should have thought through a little more. And made a better choice about how he handled it.
The foreign policy was created in 1970. It was to focus on global affairs, current events, and domestic and international policy. This was one of Nixon’s important policies. With this Nixon had made peace. He used détente which was to strain relations, this help with having countries come together.
During Nixon’s time as being president he went to visit the People’s Republic of China. This was an easy step for Nixon to accomplish. This was because he was now normalizing relations between the United States and the People’s Republic of China. Nixon marked the first time that a United States President had been to China. After Nixon was in China, in April of 1971 the American Ping-Pong team was invited to come to “The ping heard round the world”. This included ten journalists which had included five Americans that were able to cover the teams that were visiting. This was basically to show people that China and America were now in relation.
Nixon and Henry Kissinger (who was also Nixon’s adviser) made the triangular diplomacy. This was something they came up with because of the rivalry to win advantages for the United States. Nixon believed that there were several new trends in American diplomatic relations. This is when Nixon thought that the communist worlds have two rival powers the Soviet Union and China.
The Vietnamization was aimed at ending American involvement in the Vietnam War. This transferring all military responsibilities to the South. Nixon had thought that the Vietnamization had made some changing so that the South would have a chance to win. The North Vietnamses withdrew the American combat troops and then had declared the Vietnamization process complete.

The Watergate Scandal to me was interesting to learn about the difference between what one person said and how Nixon explained it in the movie that we watched. Nixon had explained it well enough for me to understand and how David Frost wanted to take him down so that people would not like him for what he did. I think that Nixon should not be remembered by how he was as a person and not how he acted as a president during the Watergate scandal. I think that he should be remembering as someone who helps get China and the United States to become good in relations. If he would not have done this I don’t think that he should be remembered as a good president at all because of how many things that he kept from the whole Watergate scandal thing. But with everything that I learned I think that it was a good subject to learn about since I didn’t know much as about it before and now I know more about it.

My thoughts on capitalism are that if you are “working” for something then you should be able to keep it and not trade it or have to trade it with someone else in a higher class than you are in. You should not have to give or trade it to someone else because they are considered higher up than you are. Even if you are considered to be in the lower class you should be allowed to keep what you have maintained and not give it to someone else. The people that are higher up than you can go and “work” for it themselves. Some people now a days take too much of an advantage of the people in the lower class. The lower the class you are in the higher the classes will take more advantages of you and the others in that class. The Industrial Revolution was part of this in the early 1770s. Without the invention of machines there would have been more jobs for people to work at. Because of the invention people had to find other jobs that they could work at that did not involve machines taking over there spot at that job. Because of the machines people were not paid as much because they had these machines to do their jobs for them so they would get paid less. People that where in the higher class had more control of what would be printed in the newspapers, because they had part ownership, so they did not need to have some of their personal stuff put in there. Because wages fell people could not afford things they needed for their families and themselves. The social impact of capitalism is when workers were forced to have a set maximum wage. Everyone that worked in the same place would pretty much have the same set wages then.

John Adams

John Adams said, “Democracy… while it lasts, is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” This quote, to me means that the higher you are in some societies the more likely you are going to be treated better. The higher you are the more people will know you and the more people will notice you’re name. They will even notice if you are holding hereditary titles. You could also have a higher privilege than anyone else. The lower you are in society the less you will be recognized and the less people will notice you for what you have done. The less other will notice you the less people will notice your name. A monarchy is usually held by one person. The person that it is usually run by is a king, prince, queen, or princess. They are usually passed down from generation to generation. Some monarchies are run by parliaments, Britain and Denmark would be a couple of examples. There are two different kinds of monarchy, one is an absolute monarchy and the other is a limited monarchy. Democracy will basically soon kill itself it could take time but it will eventually soon end. Democracy is a system of government by the population and all eligible members of a state. In a monarchy you will be noticed because democracy is a government run by the people. The people can elect agents under a free electoral system if they choose to. This is something that they do not have to do if they do not want to. People in this usually are respect to their political power. This is usually used in the Middle French, Late Latin, and Greek. Two democracies are the United States and Canada. This means that people can elect their representatives and they can vote on it to choose who will represent their state.

Bicameral Legislature

The Constitution is bicameral, this means that it is made up of two different houses. There are three different reasons these are: historical, practical, and theoretical.  The historical had thirteen colonies bicameral and two unicameral colonies these are Georgia and Pennsylvania. Practical has a two chambered body because of a conflict between two states. Theoretical had favored bicameral congress so that one house could act on another.

Torture

In the first article I read, it talks about a “Salt Pit” method of torture.  This method includes being handcuffed to an overhead bar for 22 hours a day. The prisoner is left alone, often in shadows. They are forced to listen to shrieking music, with no heat source. One supervisor says that the “Salt Pit” is “good for interrogations because it is the closest thing… to a dungeon.” I personally believe that this is not “good for interrogation,” this is cruel and horrible thing to do to a human being. This is inhumane, demeaning, and unnecessary treatment of an individual, or individuals. I believe that these CIA- designated “black sites” abroad should be shut down immediately and those involved should be charged with the crimes that  they have done.
In the second article, it talks about how two people named James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, they were the head of the CIA’s torture division. Two other people were involved, Grayson Swigert and Hammond Dunbar, these two were part of the torture tactics; waterboarding and mock burial. The second article also includes why this all matters. This matters because someone should not have to be getting paid to come up with different ways to start torturing someone.
In the article that I found it says that this has been on research for four years. They have also spent well over $40 million. They have been getting serious questions about the terrorist attack in September. One person named Gul Rahman was arrested six weeks after the terrorist attack in September. He was taken the “Salt Pits”, he was taken north of Kabul. Kabul was known as the “Salt Pits”. After the September terrorist attack the CIA headquarters had not proved any interrogation tactics. Rahman was kept a secret, for seven years after he had died.
